WEX and Intern Application

HOW Work Exchange (WEX) WORKS:

1. WEX applications are accepted on a first-come, first-considered basis until positions are full. Intern applications are skills-based must be submitted 1-quarter year in advance of the semester needed.
2. You will receive an acceptance (or denial) notice via email within a month of applying. NOTE: duplicate inquiries will not be reviewed favorably. Do NOT send more than one application or email "check back."
3. Reply as soon as possible to your CIRF WEX offer.
4. To accept if a WEX position is offered to you, you must pay in advance.
Within a month of receiving your completed application (skills and availability), CIRF will email you the totals you owe for WEX deposit check (we hold it, uncashed) and cash registration difference with a link to pay online and select your attendance options which you must complete to gain a WEX position. Pay online and mail your deposit check (separate from your registration payment) in the amount of your WEX discount to CIRF prior to your Orientation Session to secure your WEX position. Your schedule will be emailed to you only after your payment is received. If payment arrangements are needed, call CIRF during office hours.
5. Mandatory Orientation Session. All WEXers must attend one of the following orientation sessions. For Fall-Winter 2011:
Dates and Times in San Francisco TBA in December.

CIRF produces monthly events with the help of an enthusiastic crew of participants who offer their services and time in exchange for discounted event registration cost, aka, Work Exchange (WEX).  All WEX positions and Internships are awarded through the application at the bottom of this page.  WEX participants are required to work at least ONE two-hour shift per event day they attend.   Work Exchange rate is 10 US dollars off Registration Prices for each hour WEX completed. Deposit checks are held-but-not-cashed to ensure completion of scheduled WEX hours. No deposit checks will be returned to WEXers at the event site; all voided deposit checks are mailed back to WEXers. All WEXers will be required to keep timesheets while at the event; deposit checks will be cashed for any WEX timesheets left incomplete at the end of an event. Scholarship positions (separate application) require acceptance of a 10-hour WEX position.
POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
- WEX 2-20+ hours, negotiable per application, dependent on tasks needed.
- INTERNSHIP, weekly negotiated office hours/access to all programs for one year,
available as WEX and with advisement for-university-credit.

WEX credit can be earned with work prior to or during an event (not after). ON-SITE WEX is performed in shifts during the event. e.g. Registration/Box Office, Café, Meal Service, Childcare, Activity Monitors, Jam Monitors, and Performance Crew.
PRE-EVENT WEX doesn’t fall into the regular WEX shift schedule, and is a prearranged work agreement based on monthly event production needs.  e.g. Flyering, pickups, staff assistance, Database entry and Customer Service, and video/photo documention.
