Welcome to CIRF: Contact Improvisation Research Forum

CIRF is a forum for the continued world-wide exchange and development of Contact Improvisation (CI) dance. CIRF offers year-round events to provide high quality performance, training and dance research/practice, including our annual July festival, WCCIF: West Coast Contact Improvisation Festival (since 1987). We collaborate among a cross-section of artists interested in dance, improvisation, somatics and performance. Diversity inclusion, financial assistance and physical accessibility are essential components of our programming and decision-making. We aim to inspire and challenge both the professional artist and the beginning mover, providing an environment that cultivates new generations of performing artists, teachers, and dancers.
